2013 Rutherglen Estates Durif

Matured for 12 months in French and American oak. Impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark purple black hue. The nose exhibits lifted ripe Morello cherry top notes followed by some black cherries, dark plum and a touch of liquorice with underlying cedar and spice. Full bodied with a rich chewy mouthfeel the palate features ripe Morello cherries and liquorice flavours over a background of vanillin cedar, earth and spice. Firm robust tannins impart a sense of dryness on the finish. Long chewy aftertaste of inky Morello cherries, vanillin cedar and spice.
