Yalumba’s Menzies takes its name from Sir Robert Menzies, former Australian Prime Minister and red wine enthusiast. Maturation took place in a combination of 13% new French hogsheads & barriques, 3% new American hogsheads, 3% new Hungarian hogsheads, with the balance in 1 year and older American, French & Hungarian hogsheads & barriques for a period of 18 months.

An exceptional Coonawarra Cabernet that unifies richness, finesse and structure.

Magnificent totally opaque black crimson colour with a deep dark purple crimson hue. Wonderful aromatics of ripe blackcurrants, mulberry, a touch of black olive, tobacco, cedar and spice unfurl themselves from the glass. Medium to full bodied the palate shows great refinement and finesse, yet is brimming with rich fruit delivering mouthfilling flavours of blackcurrant and mulberry over a backdrop of subtle black olives, cedary tobacco and spice with a hint of complexing bay leaf also present. Very fine grained, yet well structured tannins are seamlessly integrated with the fruit. Long aftertaste of blackcurrant, cedary tobacco, bay leaf and spice.
Cellar 8-10 years.
