2012 RockBare McLaren Vale Shiraz

McLaren Vale, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$16. 99
Bottle
$203.88 Dozen
Cellar: 4 - 5 Years (2018-2019)
ABV: 14.5%
Closure: Stelvin

The fruit for this delicious Shiraz was sourced from predominately McLaren Vale with a 5% Barossa valley component also included. Oak maturation took place in a combination of new American, French & European oak along with some 1 year old oak. Yields for the 2012 vintage were down overall by approximately 20%, however, the offset was increased colour, flavour and tannin.

‘Another voluptuously full and rich Shiraz from Rockbare.’

Outstanding colour saturation displaying an inky black purple core and very deep dark purple black hue. Fragrant aromas of ripe blackberries, dark chocolates and liquorice emerge on the nose underpinned by some vanillin oak and spice. Full bodied the palate boasts a rich flavoursome profile of ripe blackberries, dark chocolate and liquorice followed by some mocha and spice. Generous fleshy mouthfeel with velvet smooth tannins. Long dark chocolate, liquorice, spicy mocha and vanillin oak aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2018-2019).
Alc 14.5%

Other Reviews....
Dense crimson-purple; there is surely no other Australian region that stamps its origin on shiraz as powerfully and consistently as McLaren Vale, this wine as good an example as any, black fruit encased in synergistic dark chocolate, ample tannins providing structure, new oak not necessary. It goes without saying that '12 amplified all these qualities. Drink by 2027.
