2012 Rocca Delle Macie Tenuta Sant' Alfonso Chianti Classico

An excellent Chianti possessing savouriness, richness and a dose of old world rustic charm

Made from 100% Sangiovese with ageing taking place in French oak for around one year. Very deep dark red black tinged colour with a dark crimson red hue. Fragrant aromas of ripe dark cherries and subtle liquorice merge with toasty cedar over some earth, dried meats and spice. Medium bodied with excellent richness and a very textural feel the palate features a savoury flavour profile of ripe dark cherries and blackcurrant over cedar, lightly scorched earth, a hint of leather and spice. Very fine grained tannins. Good length with a medium to long ripe dark cherry, blackcurrant, lightly toasted cedar, earth and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
