This wine is produced from 100% Malbec – Argentina’s signature varietal in a joint venture between Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Nicolas Catena. Originally from France, Malbec was introduced to Argentina by a Frenchman, Jean Pouget, in 1868. A very fruity, exuberant and powerful grape, Malbec has adapted wonderfully to the Mendoza region where the sunshine and cool nights soften its tannins and reveal its velvety texture.

Opaque black dark red colour with a dark crimson red hue. Aromas of dark cherries and blackcurrants are followed by some cedary tobacco characters with spice end notes. Medium bodied and possessing excellent richness, the wine has developed some more complexity and savoury tones over the last 12 months having lost it’s youthful inky characters. Generous flavours of ripe blackcurrants and dark cherries are prevalent over some cedary tobacco characters and spice. Very fine grained tannins. Good length with a medium to long aftertaste of blackcurrant, dark cherries, cedar, subtle earth and spice. Drinking well now it will only get better over the next 4-5 years.
