2011 Guigal Cotes du Rhone

A blend of 60% Syrah, 35% Grenache and 5% Mourvedre with the fruit being sourced from vines with an average age of 35 years. Aged for 18 months in oak foudres.

Near opaque dark red black colour with a bright dark red hue. Lifted aromas of black raspberries and black cherries are followed by some liquorice, incense, meaty earth like characters and spice. Medium to full bodied and possessing more than ample richness the palate is filled with succulent black raspberry and black cherry flavours over some liquorice, earth and spice. Chewy finish with dryish but fine grained tannins. Long aftertaste of black raspberry, black cherries, liquorice, earth and spice. One of Guigal’s finest Cote du Rhones.
Cellar 4-5 years.
