A co-venture between the great First Growth Chateau, Lafite Rothschild and Argentina’s Catena – Bodegas Caro, the Amancaya blend represents a perfect harmony of New World inventiveness with Old World tradition. Crafted from Malbec vines up to thirty years old, using the best French cooperage and blended skillfully from a broad range of clonal material and altitudes, along with a good splash of Cabernet to provide structure for keeping. The results are a cut above the predictable supermarket blandness many Argentinian producers are now turning out. Once again, we've dealt directly with Caro to ensure this wine arrives into Australia at an extraordinary price point.

A beautifully integrated blend and a perennial favourite.

In 2010, Wine Spectator’s wine critic Matt Kramer declared, “There is no greater value in red wine anywhere in the world today than Argentine malbec.” Once again, Lafite Rothschild's 'Amancaya' goes beyond the stereotype of succulent Argentinian Malbec with its ripe mid palate framed by the structure and length of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Totally opaque black dark purple colour with deep very dark purple hue. Aromas of ripe dark cherries and blackcurrant are followed by some cedar, meatiness and earth. Full bodied the palate is filled with ripe dark cherries and blackcurrant with some underlying meaty cedar and earth with a very spicy finish. Excellent depth with solid, slightly dryish but fine grained tannin structure. Long blackcurrant, dark cherry, earthy dried meats, cedar and spice aftertaste. Cellar 5-6 years. Alc 15%
