Aged for 21 months in predominately American oak hogsheads with 15% being French oak. Spectacular totally opaque inky black dark crimson red colour with deep black dark crimson red hue. Showing good intensity the nose exhibits lifted top notes of liquorice allsorts followed by some blackberry, plum, vanillin confectionary and a touch of spice. Rich and full bodied but possessing more tannin and grip than its predecessor the palate delivers mouthfilling liquorice, blackberry and dark plum flavours followed by some vanillin confectionary and spicy oak characters. Solidly constructed with fine grained, slightly dryish tannins. Excellent length with long liquorice, blackberry, vanillin and peppery spice aftertaste.
