2008 Vavasour Pinot Gris
Vavasour Wines are the pioneers of the Awatere Valley, a relatively new, slightly cooler 'sub-region' of Marlborough that lies over the hills to the south of Marlborough's Wairau River plain.
Pinot Gris was considered one of the outstanding varieties of the 2008 vintage, showing excellent intensity and aromatics.
Bright pale straw colour with water like hue, showing a green tinge. Lifted nose of lychee, ripe pear followed by a hint of tropical fruit. Generous palate – Alsatian style, with flavours of spice, ripe pear and tropical fruit. Clean acid finish. Aftertaste of ripe pear, musk and lychee.
Cellar 2-3 years (2011-2012)
