The wine-world has caught on to this sought after yet tiny 100% Grand Cru grower/producer. But with less than 700 cases of the 2008 vintage produced there simply isn't enough to go around. Pinot Noir heavy (62%) with the remainder Chardonnay from Ambonnay and Bouzy (2006 was 100% Chardonnay), the 2008 makes a further stylistic departure from previous years with 60% vinified in oak barrels (none for 2006) plus a lower dosage. In Benoit's words, it is a "much more precise and tight style, with great finesse and chalkiness…A modern Champagne."

Benoit continues to announce himself on the world stage producing artisanal Champagnes full of class and distinction.

This superb Grand Cru Champagne opens impressively with a white frothy mousse that holds well to eventually reveal a very pale gold base wine that has an exceptionally fine bead showing excellent persistence. A classic Champagne sniff with aromas of yeast lees and baked bread followed by some toastiness, citrus and brioche. The palate doesn’t disappoint displaying terrific finesse and richness with a texturally creamy mouth feel. A complex amalgam of flavours engulf the palate including yeast lees, baked bread and brioche followed by some toasty characters and citrus finishing with some roast almond back palate flavours. Clean dry finish with perfectly balanced acidity. Outstanding length and refinement with a long yeasty baked bread, toast and roasted almond aftertaste. Best yet from this House?
