After reviewing eight consecutive releases of this wine, we're still not certain as to how the name 'The Bogan' fits. (For our international customers, a 'Bogan' is an Aussie stereotype describing someone whose main concerns are 'watchin' tele, smokin' 'n drinking beer' in between working on the car and 'slappin' the pokies'). If this wine is anything to go by, then the Bogan's probably not such a bad bloke to be around. Sourced from vineyards planted in 1899 and 1965 with maturation taking place in a combination of American & French oak for 15 months.

A blockbuster Shiraz.

Fantastic colour saturation with totally opaque black dark purple colour and very deep dark purple black hue. The nose exhibits aromas of very ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate followed by some vanillin characters and spicy end notes. Monumental palate concentration and richness with dark lavish flavours of liquorice and ripe blackberry followed by some dark chocolate, vanillin confectionary and a spicy finish. Voluptuously textured with very fine grained but supportive tannin structure. Very long liquorice, blackberry, vanillin confectionary and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2016-2017).
Alc 15.5%
