The Blue Eyed Boy is destined for a black eye as he evolves into a super heavy weight boxer.
Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. The nose is a touch more restrained than the boxer, but make no mistake, this Blue Eyed Boy still carries plenty of clout at 16% Alc/Vol. Top note of liquorice, confectionary and spice. The palate has excellent weight, with flavours of spice, plum and stewed fruit over a vanilla background. Very spicy black pepper back palate. Fine grained soft tannins. Long aftertaste of plum, vanilla and black pepper.
Cellar 2-3 years (2009-2010)
Alc/Vol: 16%

Other Reviews...
The 2006 Shiraz “Blue Eyed Boy” is predominantly Padthaway fruit. Purple-colored, it has an intense aromatic display of smoke, violets, mulberry, blueberry, and chocolate. This leads to a full-bodied, plush, wine with layers of ripe, spicy black fruits, excellent focus and delineation. The tannins are well-concealed but this wine has enough stuffing to evolve for 6-8 years. Drink it through 2025. Mollydooker (the Australian equivalent of “Southpaw”– both Sparky and Sarah Marquis are left-handed) is the label of the renowned winemaking team of Sparky and Sarah Marquis. This is their second vintage following the schism with The Grateful Palate and the end of their involvement in the hugely successful Marquis Philips project. Total case production is 72,000, down from the 120,000 cases produced under the Marquis Philips label. They have also set up their own importing company in the United States. Mollydooker has been divided into four tiers beginning with “The Lefty Series”. These five wines are line-priced at $20. Next up the ladder is “The Party Series” priced at $50 a bottle, followed by two wines comprising “The Love Series” priced at $80. At the top of the pyramid is one wine, “The Velvet Glove” Shiraz priced at $175.
