Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Tope not of violet and blackcurrant followed by toasted oak and cedar. The palate has excellent weight and flavour, with flavours of cedar, spice, blackcurrant and stewed fruit. Fine grained tannins. Excellent balance. Aftertaste of spice, cedar, stewed fruit and confectionary.

The Bordeaux varietal cuvees include the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Phoenix. This deep ruby/purple-tinged, full-bodied red reveals notes of creme de cassis, licorice, and spicy new oak. Moderately tannic, rich, and powerful, it requires several years of bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020.
