The Hickinbotham Grenache is more perfumed than the Kangarilla.  Bright crimson colour with crimson mauve hue.  Medium body.  Top notes of violets followed by spice and raspberry.  The palate fruit appears to be 'sweeter' than usual, with flavours of ripe raspberry and ripe blood plum emerging.  There is a touch of smokiness appearing on the back palate.  Aftertaste of raspberry, spice and blood plum.
Cellar 4-5 years (2010-2011)
Alc/Vol: 14.5%

Robert Parkers Review:
From a vineyard planted in rocky soils containing considerable ironstone, the 2004 Grenache Old Vines Hickinbotham Vineyard reveals a dense color, minerality, and black fruits (blackberries, black cherries, and black raspberries). Full-bodied, with fine acidity, ripe tannin, and an expansive, savory mouthfeel, it will benefit from another year of bottle age, and should last for a decade.
