2000 Barossa Valley Estate E&E Black Pepper Shiraz
Each vintage, from their base of more than 80 growers that span the Barossa Valley region, Barossa Valley Estate select only the best Shiraz fruit to produce their world reknown E&E Blackpepper Shiraz. Fruit for the E&E comes predominantly from very old, dry grown Shiraz vines in the northern section of the Valley. The vines are very low cropping, producing small berries with intensely concentrated flavours. The wine was matured in a combination of French & American oak for a period of 18 months.
Tasting Notes: Opaque black deep crimson colour with deep crimson hue. The nose is lifted with hints of violets, dark chocolate, plum and dark cherry notes emerging, followed by a liquorice end note. The palate shows impressive length and depth with flavours of blackpepper and blackberry followed by stewed plum, dark chocolate and vanilla. Outstanding length and persistence. Exceptionally long white and black pepper aftertaste. Stocks are very limited.
Cellar 3-4 years (2006-2007)
