1997 Jindalee Estate Chardonnay
Bright straw colour. Uplifted spicy melon, fig and tropical fruit aromas. The palate has melon and ripe nectarine flavour with distinct bitter almond and 'fish' back palate flavour. Very strange! Retasted again. Cod liver oil fish characteristic persisting. Melon, fish aftertaste. Maybe the wine maker is trying to feed us at the same time! Pass.
RETASTED 13/01/1999: This is the second sample that we've tasted from this vintage, and we have to say its head and shoulders above the first sample.Bright straw colour. Delicate citrus aromas on the palate with some spice and vanilla overtones. The palate has good weight, with ripe melon spice flavour dominant, with a hint of ripe pineapple and mango peach spice aftertaste. A good commercial wine.
